Dilated Cardiomyopathy Clinical Trial

Petcardia Veterinary Cardiology is currently enrolling dogs in a clinical trial that is investigating Nutritional Dilated Cardiomyopathy that may be caused by certain diets in dogs
Qualifying dogs must:
  • weigh more than 16.5 lbs
  • be one year of age or older
  • not be receiving cardiac medication
  • have been fed the same food for the past 6 months
  • be willing to follow the treatment plan of a veterinary cardiologist, including diet changes and cardiac medication
Benefits of the Study:
  • FREE initial screening exam: including Echocardiogram, ECG, Blood Pressure and Consultation with an ACVIM Board Certified Cardiologist  
  • Dogs that are enrolled also receive​ ​additional free services including free blood panels and recheck examinations​.

EPOCHAL Study

Petcardia is currently enrolling dogs in a clinical trial that is is evaluating an investigational medication in the hope of making progress against Congestive Heart Failure at an earlier stage than ever before – even before you may notice any signs.
Qualifying dogs must:
  • Have been diagnosed by a veterinarian with a heart murmur and enlarged heart, known as Stage B2 MMVD (myxomatous mitral valve disease)
  • be at least 6 years old
  • not be pregnant or lactating
  • Weigh between 9 and 33.1 pounds
  • Meets certain other medical criteria as outlined for referring veterinarians here

Everything required by the study is free, including:
  • A full year of specialty care from a veterinary cardiologist
  • Radiographs (x-rays)
  • Echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart)
  • Bloodwork
  • Physical exams
  • Investigational medication
